Over the weekend, Representative Andrew Clyde (GA-09) delivered remarks at a send-off ceremony for the Cherokee Company, 121st Infantry Regiment, of the Georgia National Guard before their year-long deployment to Kuwait. The ceremony, which took place at Gainesville High School, was attended by local leaders, members of the Georgia National Guard, and the Gainesville community.

As a 28-year Navy veteran who served three combat tours in Kuwait and Iraq, Rep. Clyde expressed his gratitude to the Cherokee Company for their commitment to duty and emphasized the significance of military service. He stated, "The value of military service cannot be overstated, as the collective courage and sacrifices of those living and those who have gone before us have established, maintained, and fortified our freedom."

Highlighting the importance of strength in maintaining peace, Rep. Clyde added, "During these times of global instability and threats from our adversaries, achieving peace through strength is paramount to protecting and preserving our freedom." He expressed the collective appreciation of all Georgians, saying, "Thank you, Cherokee Company, for your service and sacrifice in the defense of our precious liberties."

Recognizing the immense sacrifices made by the family members of the Cherokee Company soldiers, Rep. Clyde addressed them directly, stating, "We are incredibly grateful to you for the sacrifices you make on behalf of our freedoms. Whether you're a parent, spouse, child, or friend, your love, support, and devotion keep America strong."

In his closing remarks, Rep. Clyde called upon all attendees to join him in praying for the Cherokee Company and their families. He also highlighted the send-off ceremony on the House floor, inviting others to watch his full remarks online.

The send-off ceremony served as a powerful reminder of the dedication and bravery exhibited by the men and women of the Cherokee Company. As they embark on their overseas deployment, the thoughts and prayers of the Gainesville community and the entire state of Georgia go with them.
