Rep. Andrew Clyde, who represents Georgia’s 9th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently posted a series of tweets addressing gun rights and voter ID laws.

On February 10, 2026, Clyde expressed support for the Trump Administration’s Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), stating: “I’m thankful the Trump Administration’s ATF swiftly corrected this error. Americans don’t need a reason to exercise their God-given Second Amendment rights. I look forward to continuing to work with ATF Director Nominee Cekada in defending this undeniable fact.”

The following day, on February 11, 2026, Clyde addressed Democratic opposition to voter ID requirements by listing common activities that require photo identification: “Democrats continue to claim voter ID is racist and sexist. Americans show photo ID for numerous reasons: Drive a car Buy alcohol Get married Board a plane Buy cigarettes Buy or rent a car Check into a hotel Buy cold medicine Buy or rent a house “

Later that same day, he continued his criticism of Democratic policies regarding identification requirements: “Democrats support ID requirements to purchase a firearm. But they oppose ID requirements to vote.”

Clyde has served as the representative for Georgia’s 9th District since 2021 after replacing Doug Collins. He was born in Walkerton, Ontario, Canada in 1963 and currently resides in Athens at age 59. In recent elections, Clyde has maintained strong electoral support; he won the general election against Tambrei Cash in 2024 with nearly 69% of the vote and secured previous victories over Michael Ford in 2022 and Devin Pandy in 2020.
