Rep. Andrew Clyde, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Georgia’s 9th district since 2021, has been vocal on various legislative issues through his social media presence. Born in Walkerton, Ontario, Canada in 1963 and currently residing in Athens, Clyde is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Bethel University.
On May 6, 2025, Rep. Clyde expressed agreement with Rep. Eli Crane regarding judicial authority by stating “Couldn’t agree more, @RepEliCrane. When activist judges abuse their authority to obstruct the President’s Article II powers, it’s up to Congress to hold them accountable. Inaction on this matter is unacceptable.”
The following day, May 7, 2025, he commented on Medicaid expansion under Obamacare by highlighting concerns over funding priorities: “Obamacare expanded Medicaid far beyond its intended purpose. In many cases, the federal government pays states MORE to cover ABLE-BODIED adults than the vulnerable, such as pregnant women and disabled children. This is simply unsustainable—and it’s up to Congress to fix it.”
Later that day on May 7th, Clyde announced legislative efforts aimed at gun regulation reform through the introduction of a new act: “Burdensome regulations and unconstitutional taxes shouldn’t stand in the way of protecting American gun owners’ hearing. That’s why I’m introducing the Constitutional Hearing Protection Act to remove suppressors from the National Firearms Act.”
Andrew Clyde replaced former U.S Congress member Doug Collins in representing Georgia’s 9th District.
