Rep. Andrew Clyde, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Georgia’s 9th district, recently expressed his views on gun rights and legislative efforts via social media. Born in Walkerton, Ontario, Canada in 1963, Clyde has been a prominent advocate for Second Amendment rights since he assumed office in 2021.
On July 2, 2025, Clyde commended the organization Gun Owners of America for their role in advocating for the repeal of NFA taxes and registration during budget reconciliation. He stated, “Folks, @GunOwners has done remarkable work in leading the charge to repeal NFA taxes and registration in budget reconciliation.” He also expressed gratitude for collaborating with these “2A champions” to restore Second Amendment freedoms.
Later that day, Clyde reiterated his commitment to advancing Second Amendment rights by emphasizing the need to eliminate both NFA taxation and registration. He declared on social media: “I’m fighting for the 2A wins that the American people demand and deserve.”
In another post on July 2, Clyde criticized Democratic lawmakers’ stance on gun control. He wrote: “Gun-grabbing Democrats have absolutely no clue what they’re talking about—all while they attempt to erode our Second Amendment liberties.” This comment underscores his ongoing opposition to perceived attempts at restricting gun rights.
Clyde’s educational background includes a BA from the University of Notre Dame and a BBA from Bethel University, both earned in 1985. He also graduated from the University of Georgia in 1999.
