Rep. Andrew Clyde, a U.S. Congressman representing Georgia’s 9th district since 2021, has recently shared his views on the dismantling of Black Lives Matter Plaza in Washington, D.C., through a series of tweets. Clyde, who succeeded Doug Collins and resides in Athens, Georgia, expressed his perspective on the significance of this action.
On March 7, 2025, Rep. Clyde tweeted about the removal of Black Lives Matter Plaza from Washington D.C.’s streets. He stated that “Black Lives Matter Plaza will no longer stain the streets of Washington, D.C.” He emphasized that America’s capital should symbolize “freedom, patriotism, and safety—not wokeness, divisiveness, and lawlessness.”
Three days later, on March 10, 2025, Clyde posted another tweet noting progress on his legislative efforts. He mentioned that “One week after I introduced legislation to rename Black Lives Matter Plaza, workers have started dismantling it.” He concluded with the phrase “Making D.C. Great Again!”
Later that day on March 10th, he reiterated his stance against Black Lives Matter by reminding followers of their advocacy positions. Clyde wrote: “REMINDER: Black Lives Matter advocates for the abolition of prisons and police.” He argued these are not representative beliefs of America and described the plaza’s demolition as evidence of rejecting what he called “woke nonsense.”
