Representative Andrew Clyde, serving Georgia’s 9th district since 2021, has taken to social media to discuss several issues regarding national policies and recent legislative decisions. Clyde, who succeeded Doug Collins, raised various concerns and applaud recent activities through his tweets.
On April 30, 2025, Clyde highlighted a positive trend in military recruitment, attributing it to changes made during the Trump administration. He stated, “U.S. military recruitment is SURGING under President Trump and SecDef Hegseth’s leadership.” According to Clyde, this surge is a result of eliminating what he views as “wokeness” from military policies and redirecting the Pentagon’s focus toward enhancing the capabilities of warfighters.
Later that day, Rep. Clyde criticized a recent judicial order, posting, “U.S. District Judge Jennifer Thurston issued an order prohibiting Border Patrol from arresting illegal aliens without a warrant.” Clyde contended that this decision goes against federal law, specifically citing 8 U.S.C. § 1357 which authorizes warrantless arrests for undocumented immigrants. He concluded with a call for Judge Thurston’s impeachment, deeming her an “activist judge” appointed under the Biden administration.
On May 1, 2025, Clyde praised the Senate’s decision to pass a resolution he sponsored. The resolution, aimed at repealing a Biden-era rule, was described by Clyde as “commonsense.” He remarked, “I applaud the Senate for passing my commonsense resolution to repeal an unnecessary Biden-era rule burdening both manufacturers and consumers.” Clyde expressed anticipation for the resolution’s progression to President Trump for approval.
Andrew Clyde, 59, resides in Athens, Georgia. He was born in Walkerton, Ontario, Canada in 1963 and has educational credentials from the University of Notre Dame, Bethel University, and the University of Georgia.
