Rep. Andrew Clyde, a U.S. Congressman representing Georgia’s 9th district, has been vocal on several legislative matters through his social media presence. His recent tweets have highlighted his stances on gun rights and support for significant legislative bills.
On May 21, Rep. Clyde emphasized the importance of constitutional rights with a tweet stating, “Shall not be infringed is NOT a suggestion.” He further elaborated on his efforts to go beyond current legislation by advocating for the elimination of both taxation and registration of suppressors and short-barreled firearms.
The following day, May 22, he expressed his support for major legislative progress in Congress. In a morning tweet, he announced that House Republicans had passed President Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill,” noting his role in enhancing the legislation. Clyde stated, “Over the past few days, I’ve worked tirelessly to improve this legislation.”
Later that day, Rep. Clyde celebrated a specific achievement within budget reconciliation concerning gun rights. He tweeted about successfully securing the elimination of taxation and registration for suppressors, reiterating his commitment to restoring Second Amendment rights: “It’s past time we restore our constitutional 2A rights.”
Andrew Clyde has served in the U.S. Congress since replacing Doug Collins in 2021. Born in Walkerton, Ontario, Canada in 1963, he currently resides in Athens and holds degrees from the University of Notre Dame and Bethel University.
