Rep. Andrew Clyde, a U.S. Congressman representing Georgia’s 9th district since 2021, posted a series of tweets between May 14 and May 15, 2026, addressing gun rights and immigration policy.
On May 14, Clyde posted “From my cold, dead hands!”, echoing a well-known slogan associated with opposition to gun control measures.
Later that evening, on May 15, he expressed support for two public officials by tweeting: “Great to see @DAGToddBlanche & @FBIDirectorKash! I appreciate and support their work to deliver accountability, restore justice, and protect Americans’ constitutional rights. “
In a tweet on the afternoon of May 15, Clyde commented on Virginia’s new gun legislation and its author Saddam Azlan Salim. He wrote: “Saddam Azlan Salim, who immigrated from Bangladesh, authored Virginia’s new unconstitutional gun ban. Attempting to naturalize those who hold beliefs that are incompatible with our Constitution is a recipe for disaster—in this case, disarmament. Denaturalize. Deport. Defend 2A.”
Clyde has represented Georgia’s 9th District in Congress since succeeding Doug Collins in 2021. He was born in Walkerton, Ontario, Canada in 1963 and currently resides in Athens at age 59. In recent elections—2020 against Devin Pandy (78.6% to 21.4%), 2022 against Michael Ford (72.4% to 27.6%), and most recently in 2024 against Tambrei Cash (69% to 31%)—he secured significant victories.
