Rep. Andrew Clyde, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Georgia’s 9th district since 2021, has used his social media platform to advocate for the SAVE America Act and address criticisms from opponents regarding voter ID laws.
On February 9, 2026, Clyde posted on his official account: “The vast majority of Americans agree: Our nation needs voter ID. Now it’s time for Congress to deliver. The SAVE America Act is on the House floor this week. Easy YES vote. Let’s get it done.”
The following day, he commented on opposition to the bill, writing: “Democrats oppose the SAVE America Act because they want illegal aliens voting in our elections. It’s really that simple.” On the same day, Clyde addressed specific claims about the legislation: “Democrats are lying to you about the SAVE America Act. MYTH: The bill makes it harder for married women to vote. FACT: The SAVE America Act provides a process for ANYONE who changes their name to register to vote.”
Clyde’s advocacy for voter ID requirements and election legislation comes after multiple successful congressional campaigns; he won his seat by significant margins in 2020, 2022, and 2024 general elections against Devin Pandy, Michael Ford, and Tambrei Cash respectively.
Aged 59 and originally from Walkerton, Ontario, Canada, Clyde resides in Athens and replaced Doug Collins as representative of Georgia’s 9th district in 2021.
