Rep. Andrew Clyde, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Georgia’s 9th district since 2021, has made several statements on social media regarding pressing national issues. Clyde, who was born in Walkerton, Ontario, Canada in 1963 and now resides in Athens, is vocal about his concerns surrounding child trafficking and federal Medicaid policies.
On May 14, 2025, Rep. Clyde alleged that President Joe Biden has implicated the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as “the final link in the chain of child trafficking.” He cited a confirmation from Secretary Kennedy stating that “AT LEAST 291,000 children remain missing—but the number could be as high as half a million.” “Joe Biden made HHS the final link in the chain of child trafficking.”
Later that day, Clyde criticized the Biden Administration for allegedly being aware of these issues but taking no action. He referred to details provided by Secretary Kennedy about how HHS under Biden’s leadership purportedly facilitated child trafficking and abuse. He urged people to watch a video detailing these claims. “The Biden Administration knew about it…and did NOTHING.”
In another post on May 14, Clyde expressed disapproval over federal Medicaid spending priorities. He stated it is inappropriate for the government to allocate more funds for able-bodied adults than for vulnerable groups such as pregnant women, children, seniors, and disabled individuals on Medicaid. He emphasized that this issue needs to be addressed during budget reconciliation discussions. “It is fundamentally WRONG for the federal government to pay states MORE for able-bodied…”
Andrew Clyde graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a BA in 1985 and later earned a BBA from Bethel University before completing further studies at the University of Georgia.
