Rep. Andrew Clyde, currently serving as the U.S. Representative for Georgia’s 9th District, has been vocal on social media about recent events affecting Texas and broader political issues. Clyde succeeded Doug Collins in Congress in 2021 and has a background that includes degrees from the University of Notre Dame, Bethel University, and the University of Georgia.
On July 5, 2025, Rep. Clyde expressed his concern for those affected by events in Texas Hill Country, stating: “Please join me in praying for the Texas Hill Country during this unimaginably difficult time.”
Two days later, on July 7, he made comments regarding political figures and immigration policy. He tweeted: “Hakeem Jeffries is a radical, lying leftist. I applaud President Trump, DHS, and ICE for deporting illegal aliens and putting Americans FIRST.”
Later that same day, Clyde addressed concerns over rhetoric from political opponents following an incident involving law enforcement officers. He stated: “The radical Left’s violent rhetoric is out of control. Hours after this reporting, a deranged man ambushed Border Patrol agents in Texas. May God bless and protect our law enforcement officers.”
Clyde was born in Walkerton, Ontario, Canada in 1963 and now resides in Athens at age 59.
