Rep. Andrew Clyde, who represents Georgia’s 9th district in the U.S. Congress, used his Twitter account on July 25, 2025, to express support for legislative action targeting university hiring practices and to comment on immigration policy.
In a tweet posted at 18:46 UTC, Clyde stated: “Universities frequently exploit an H-1B visa loophole to hire foreign workers over Americans. Proud to support @RepTiffany’s CAP Act to end this unjust practice and encourage universities to prioritize American workers. America FIRST, always.” He also included a link in a subsequent tweet at 18:46 UTC: “https://t.co/BvJpapNPH1”.
Later that day, at 20:31 UTC, Clyde commented further on immigration policy with a brief statement: “Mass deportations. NOT mass amnesty.”
Clyde has represented Georgia’s 9th District since 2021 after succeeding Doug Collins in Congress. He was born in Walkerton, Ontario, Canada in 1963 and currently resides in Athens. His educational background includes degrees from the University of Notre Dame (BA), Bethel University (BBA), both earned in 1985, and a degree from the University of Georgia obtained in 1999.
