Rep. Andrew Clyde, a U.S. Congressman representing Georgia’s 9th district since 2021, has recently shared his views on President Trump’s budget and immigration policies through a series of tweets. Clyde, who succeeded Doug Collins in Congress, is known for his strong stances on fiscal policy and Second Amendment rights.
On May 2, 2025, Rep. Clyde tweeted about President Trump’s America First budget proposal. He emphasized that the budget “restores pre-COVID spending,” “realigns our spending priorities,” “maintains strong national defense funding,” and “slashes woke, weaponized, and wasteful federal bureaucracy.” He expressed that this approach is intended to bring change for the American people.
On May 5, 2025, he further elaborated on the proposed budget cuts by tweeting that “President Trump’s budget calls for at least a 28% cut in the ATF’s budget and targets numerous Biden-era, anti-2A rules.” Clyde stated his full support for these measures, asserting the necessity to reduce ATF funding and eliminate what he considers unconstitutional attacks on Second Amendment freedoms.
Later on the same day, Rep. Clyde addressed immigration policy under the Trump Administration with a tweet declaring that “The Trump Administration’s message to illegal aliens is clear: Leave now or face the consequences.”
Andrew Clyde was born in Walkerton, Ontario, Canada in 1963 and currently resides in Athens. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a BA in 1985 and from Bethel University with a BBA later that year. Additionally, he earned another degree from the University of Georgia in 1999.
