Before the start of his third NFL training camp, Bijan Robinson spent a month in Studio City, California, training with San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey. Robinson learned the importance of recovery from the two-time All-Pro player.

Robinson and McCaffrey shared tips and tricks on the field but focused significantly on recovery off the field. “His recovery is top notch,” Robinson said. He plans to adopt similar practices to ensure he is in optimal condition before every session.

The Atlanta Falcons’ first training camp practice is scheduled for Thursday, leading up to their regular season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on September 7 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Robinson intends to incorporate recovery methods such as pool work and red-light therapy into his routine. He also experienced an altitude training chamber called the “Stratosphere,” created by scientist Bobby Williams. “It’s a new innovation, man,” Robinson commented.

Training alongside McCaffrey was valuable for Robinson. “It was really cool, like two guys coming together just trying to make each other better,” he said.

Last offseason, Robinson discussed modeling his career after McCaffrey’s with Falcons head coach Raheem Morris. The plan resulted in success as Robinson totaled 1,887 yards from scrimmage last season and scored 15 touchdowns.

Morris noted that Robinson exceeded expectations: “He’s done even more than I even had for his expectations.”

Robinson did not disclose specific goals for 2025 but stated they are higher than ever. His offseason program focused on explosiveness before he began training with McCaffrey and Luke McCaffrey, along with a team of trainers emphasizing recovery.

“For me to give it my all,” Robinson said, “I have to be in top shape.”
