Congressman Andrew Clyde of Georgia’s Ninth District recently hosted a reception to recognize six local young men who have been appointed to prestigious U.S. Service Academies. The event took place at his Gainesville District Office.
“Each of the young men who received a U.S. Service Academy appointment embody impressive leadership, academic excellence, and steadfast patriotism,” said Clyde. “I wish Kieron, Tanner, Jayden, Minchan, Deacon, and Samuel the best of luck in attending their prestigious military academies and in serving our nation. I’m confident they will continue making the Ninth District proud in their future endeavors.”
The appointees include:
– Tanner Brannock from Mill Creek High School, appointed to the U.S. Air Force Academy.
– Jayden Ivaniciuc from the University of North Georgia, also appointed to the U.S. Air Force Academy.
– Minchan Kim from North Gwinnett High School, appointed to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
– Kieron McCormack from Buford High School, appointed to the U.S. Naval Academy.
– Deacon Shull from Gilmer County High School, also appointed to the U.S. Naval Academy.
– Samuel Hegel from Georgia Military College, appointed to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
Congressman Clyde annually nominates eligible candidates for appointments to four out of five service academies: West Point (U.S. Military Academy), Annapolis (U.S. Naval Academy), Colorado Springs (U.S. Air Force Academy), and Kings Point (U.S. Merchant Marine Academy). The fifth academy, New London’s U.S. Coast Guard Academy, does not require a congressional nomination.
