Atlanta Falcons inside linebacker Divine Deablo is making steady progress as he works to return from a forearm injury, according to head coach Raheem Morris. The team began Deablo’s 21-day practice window after his stint on injured reserve, but signs point to an earlier-than-expected return.
“I expect to see him,” said Morris regarding Deablo’s status. “I don’t want to act like I’m going to activate him and not see him. I hope we’re going to see him unless something otherwise says something.”
Deablo was limited in Wednesday’s practice but participated fully on Thursday. He explained that the restrictions were due to the team’s cautious approach in ramping up his activity, rather than any lingering issues with his healing fractured forearm. During practice, he wore a protective cast.
“Honestly, I need to run at full speed,” Deablo said Wednesday when discussing what he needs before returning for Sunday’s game against New Orleans. “I need to make sure my endurance is right, make sure my mind is right as well, make sure I know my assignments and make sure I can do everything at the best level possible. Then, I’ll be ready.”
The Falcons released their latest injury report ahead of their matchup with the New Orleans Saints. Full participants in Thursday’s session included Divine Deablo (forearm), Dee Alford (concussion), Mike Hughes (neck), Xavier Watts (illness), Malik Verdon (shoulder), and Brandon Dorlus (oblique). Limited participants were Leonard Floyd (hamstring), Chris Lindstrom (foot), and Matthew Bergeron (ankle). Those who did not participate included Drake London (knee), Josh Woods (hamstring), and Zach Harrison (knee).
