The Atlanta Falcons have completed an interview with Klint Kubiak for the team’s head coach position. The search comes after the organization parted ways with Raheem Morris at the end of the 2025 season. The Falcons are seeking their 20th head coach in franchise history.

A new leadership group, including Falcons President of Football Matt Ryan, is leading the process with assistance from ZRG Partners and Sportsology Group.

“Our search committee will be structured a little bit differently than it has been in the past,” said Falcons owner Arthur Blank on Thursday. “[It will] still be made up of a component of people that represent our leadership in all areas of our businesses, but we’re going to put heavy emphasis, we’re hiring this president of football first. That’s the goal, and over the next couple of days, we have a series of interviews set up. We want to get that person in their seat and have them lead the interviews for the head coach and general manager position going forward.”

The team stated it would announce completed interviews with each candidate as they occur.

Klint Kubiak currently serves as offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks. He began his NFL coaching career in 2015 and has held roles with several teams, including quarterback coach and offensive coordinator positions with the Minnesota Vikings, passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach for Denver Broncos, passing game coordinator for San Francisco 49ers, and offensive coordinator for New Orleans Saints.

This season, Kubiak led a Seahawks offense that finished third in scoring and tied for seventh in total yardage during the regular season. The team won its first NFC West title since 2020 and secured its first No. 1 seed since 2014 after achieving a franchise-record 14 wins.

Kubiak previously worked alongside current Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins when both were part of the Minnesota Vikings from 2019-21. Reports indicate Cousins’ contract was restructured last week by Atlanta.

Kubiak’s candidacy is supported by his experience leading productive offenses over more than ten years in NFL coaching roles. Owner Arthur Blank believes Atlanta has a franchise quarterback in Michael Penix Jr., who was drafted by the Falcons in 2024’s first round. Running back Bijan Robinson and wide receiver Drake London remain on rookie contracts; most starting offensive linemen are expected to return next season; tight end Kyle Pitts Sr. could also remain under contract if given a franchise tag.

With Seattle under Kubiak’s direction improving from mid-tier rankings to top-three status offensively between 2024 and 2025, some see him as capable of elevating Atlanta’s performance—the Falcons ranked 14th in total yards but only 24th in points scored this year.

Kubiak also worked under Kyle Shanahan with San Francisco’s staff during Christian McCaffrey’s league-leading rushing campaign en route to a Super Bowl appearance last year—a connection relevant because Atlanta features similar talent at running back.

The Atlanta Falcons operate out of Atlanta, Georgia as part of the National Football League’s NFC South Division since beginning play as an expansion team in 1965 (official website). The team has reached two Super Bowls—in 1998 and again in 2016 (official website). Freddie the Falcon is recognized as their mascot (official website).
