Most people in the NFL community recognize Dane Brugler’s annual NFL Draft guide, “The Beast,” as a key resource for the event. The latest edition includes over 400 scouting profiles and ranks at least 2,600 players. It was released by The Athletic last Wednesday.
A week later, Brugler published a seven-round mock draft, selecting all 257 picks. The picks for the Atlanta Falcons follow, with overall assessments from The Beast included when Brugler did not provide explanations for all later-round selections.
In Round 1, pick No. 15, Brugler selected Edge Mike Green from Marshall. The mock draft notes, “The FBS leader in sacks last season, Green uses linear burst and athletic twitch to be a disruptive one-on-one pass rusher.” The Beast adds, “Overall, Green is a twitchy athlete with the burst and body control to win one-on-one as a pass rusher and set a violent edge in the run game…”
For Round 2, pick No. 46, DT Tyleik Williams from Ohio State was chosen. The Beast describes Williams as needing more development as a pass rusher, but highlights him as one of the best run-defending linemen because of his skills and execution.
Round 4, pick No. 118, went to OT Logan Brown from Kansas. The Beast mentions Brown’s untidy technique and inexperience but notes his combination of size, quickness, and power as promising for development as a reserve swing tackle.
In Round 7, pick No. 218, CB Cobee Bryant from Kansas was selected. The Beast acknowledges potential concerns about his frame and speed but praises his ball skills and mentality.
Lastly, for Round 7, pick No. 242, Brugler chose RB Kyle Monangai from Rutgers. The Beast remarks on Monangai’s lack of breakaway speed but notes his quickness and effectiveness on passing downs as promising for the NFL.
