The Atlanta Falcons have placed edge rusher Bralen Trice on injured reserve, the team announced Thursday.
Head coach Raheem Morris explained that Trice aggravated the same knee injury that kept him sidelined for the entire 2024 season. Morris said the team is still assessing the severity of the injury and a procedure may be necessary for Trice, who is in his second year with the Falcons.
“If it’s the best-case scenario we have discussed, it is the bye (week),” Morris said regarding a possible return date for Trice.
Trice was included on the team’s initial roster earlier this week before being moved to injured reserve. According to league rules, players placed on injured reserve during the season must miss at least four games before they are eligible to return. Teams can designate up to eight players to return from IR during the regular season, with that number increasing to 10 if they reach the postseason. The Falcons have already used two of their return designations this year for offensive tackle Storm Norton and defensive tackle Ta’Quon Graham.
Once a player on injured reserve is cleared to practice, there is a 21-day window in which he must be activated to the active roster; otherwise, he will be placed on season-ending IR.
Trice missed his rookie year in 2024 after injuring his knee during Atlanta’s first preseason game against Miami. He participated in training camp this August and was part of the defensive line rotation throughout camp. While he did not play in Atlanta’s first preseason game of 2025, he took part in Week 2 against Tennessee and Week 3 against Dallas, playing about one-third of defensive snaps in each appearance.
