The Atlanta Falcons have added veteran safety Jordan Fuller to their 53-man roster. The move comes after Fuller was initially included in the team’s recent roster cuts, which had surprised some observers.

Fuller joined the Falcons as a free agent during the offseason. He previously played under head coach Raheem Morris with the Los Angeles Rams in 2021, a season that ended with a Super Bowl win for the Rams. Over four years in Los Angeles, Fuller started 48 games, including two playoff appearances. He accumulated 279 tackles, 17 pass defenses, seven interceptions, and four forced fumbles during his time there.

Before Atlanta selected Xavier Watts in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Fuller was expected to start at safety alongside Jessie Bates III. Even after Watts arrived, Fuller remained active with the starting defense throughout training camp and was considered likely to be part of the rotation.

“We’ve trained together [at] 6 a.m., so I know everything that Jordan is about,” Bates said when he was signed. “When he hit me up and was like, ‘Hey, I’m thinking about coming to Atlanta. I was like, ‘Why wouldn’t you come to Atlanta?’

“There’s a lot of opportunity in our room, and he’s a great add to our room. Not just as a football player, but as a person. The person that he is, it’s pretty impressive; the family that he comes from. So, it’s good to be able to work with him, not just during the offseason. Now he’s in the building. We’re able to bounce off each other a little bit. Great addition for our team.”

Fuller is recognized for his effectiveness in zone coverage and often plays as a deep safety. In 2023, Next Gen Stats reported that Fuller forced tight-window throws on over one-quarter of passes into his area — ranking second among safeties league-wide in this metric (https://www.nfl.com/nextgenstats/). Last year, he spent time with the Carolina Panthers but missed almost half of the season due to a hamstring injury.

During preseason action for Atlanta this year, Fuller logged 48 defensive snaps across two games and participated on special teams for nine snaps over three contests.

The decision to bring back Fuller follows news that edge defender Bralen Trice has been placed on injured reserve and offensive tackle Michael Jerrell has been signed by Atlanta. With these moves complete, the Falcons’ roster stands at its full complement of 53 players.
