He expressed hope that the committee can develop recommendations for consideration during the legislative session. He thanked study committee members and advocates for their efforts on this matter, which aims to benefit Georgia families.
Vice Chairman Reese emphasized his enthusiasm for examining a topic affecting many families in Georgia. “We want to hear stories from Georgians on this topic, and I encourage people to participate in our meetings directly or to reach out to the study committee with public comment if you cannot attend a meeting,” he stated. Reese highlighted that the goal is to produce recommendations that help Georgians understand their parental rights and responsibilities.
The meetings are scheduled as follows: July 16 in Atlanta at the Georgia State Capitol, August 13 in Columbus, and September 17 in Augusta. Specific times and location details will be provided before each meeting. All sessions will be livestreamed and open to the public.
