One of the Atlanta Falcons’ first-round draft picks, Jalon Walker, has signed his rookie contract. The announcement was made by the organization as the 2025 first-year class began its three-day rookie minicamp at the Flowery Branch practice facility.
Walker, an edge rusher, is expected to earn a total of $20.56 million according to OverTheCap.com. His cap number for 2025 is projected at $3.74 million, reaching up to $6.54 million by 2028.
Other rookies who signed their contracts include safety Xavier Watts, defensive back Billy Bowman Jr., and offensive tackle Jack Nelson.
Jalon Walker was selected in Round 1 with Pick 15. He stands at 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs 243 pounds. At age 21, he comes from the University of Georgia where he had notable stats in 2024: starting in 11 games with a total of 60 tackles (10.5 for a loss), 6.5 sacks, and two passes defended.
General manager Terry Fontenot commented on Walker’s character and performance: “Coach’s kid, and you see it on tape… An unbelievable person.” Head coach Raheem Morris praised Walker’s versatility: “The kid’s makeup, obviously, is unique… He’s versatile.” Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich added: “He stands for everything that we think this football game should embody.”
Walker himself expressed confidence in his role: “If you tell me go get the quarterback, I’m going to go get him… It’s just what I do.”
