On National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, U.S. Representative James C. Moylan (R-Hagatna) issued a statement recognizing the dedication of law enforcement officers both on Guam and across the United States.
“Today on National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, we pause to recognize the men and women who put on the uniform each day to protect our communities and keep our nation safe,” Moylan said.
He acknowledged that law enforcement personnel perform their duties with professionalism, courage, and a sense of responsibility, often in challenging or hazardous situations. Moylan noted that their work requires judgment, restraint, and commitment but is frequently overlooked.
“I especially commend the Guam Police Department, Guam Customs and Quarantine Agency, Guam Park Police, the Department of Agriculture’s Conservation Officers, and all those who serve in law enforcement on island,” he stated.
Moylan also paid tribute to officers who have died in the line of duty and expressed support for their families. “We also remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, and we honor their families, who carry that loss long after the headlines fade. Their service is not forgotten.”
He emphasized that effective public safety relies on trust and respect between police officers and local communities. “Strong public safety depends on trust, accountability, and mutual respect between law enforcement and the communities they protect. Supporting our officers and strengthening those relationships is essential to the safety and well-being of our island and our nation.”
Concluding his statement, Moylan said: “I extend my deepest appreciation to Guam’s law enforcement officers and to officers across the nation for their service, their sacrifice, and their continued commitment to serving and safeguarding our communities.”
