Hall County has appointed Jorge Gomez as the new director of Public Works, with his tenure set to begin on October 6. Gomez previously served as the assistant director of Public Works before leaving for a short period.
“Jorge previously served as the assistant director of Public Works before a brief departure, and we are excited to welcome him back in this new role, as we know he will be an asset in this position,” said County Administrator Zach Propes.
Gomez is a professional engineer with over two decades of experience working primarily in government roles across Florida and Georgia. He joined Hall County in 2021 as the assistant county engineer and was promoted to assistant director in 2023. Most recently, he held a director’s position with the City of Brookhaven before returning to Hall County.
“Jorge brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and strategic project management to the Public Works Department,” Propes said. “I look forward to our community realizing the benefits of his service-minded leadership.”

The total student enrollment was 33,586 for that period (https://www.gadoe.org/). Hispanic students made up 51.1% of the student body, making them the largest ethnic group (https://www.gadoe.org/), while white students accounted for 36.5% (https://www.gadoe.org/) and black students represented 7.9% (https://www.gadoe.org/). Multiracial students comprised 3.2% of those enrolled (https://www.gadoe.org/).
