The Piedmont Lions, featuring former Forsyth Central High School star Averett Thompson, were edged 7-6 by the Methodist Monarchs in their NCAA Division III baseball game at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 7.
Loudermilk Field set the scene for the contest, marking the teams’ second meeting this season. In their earlier matchup on Friday, March 6, the Lions secured a 7-5 win.
Thompson took the mound for 3.1 innings, allowing one walk and striking out three batters.
The Lions will face the Monarchs again Sunday, March 8, with the game set for 1 p.m. at Loudermilk Field.
