Raheem Morris, the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, is focusing on enhancing his leadership skills as he enters his second year in this role. According to Morris, the primary area for improvement is identifying problems more quickly. “The number one thing is being able to identify problems faster,” he stated. By addressing issues sooner, Morris believes he can improve his decision-making and effectiveness.
Throughout the 2024 season, Morris faced scrutiny over certain decisions, particularly regarding clock management and strategic calls such as quarterback changes. He acknowledges these criticisms and aims to address them in the upcoming season. “I think that’s something that we all can really do,” said Morris, emphasizing the importance of quick problem identification and resolution across all team aspects.
Morris highlighted that growth in leadership involves not only recognizing problems swiftly but also finding and implementing solutions promptly. He stressed the need for collaboration within the organization to find answers efficiently. “If you don’t have the answers, being able to go find ways you can find those answers within the organization,” he explained.
As both players and coaches must adapt to an ever-evolving game, Morris embraces this challenge for continuous improvement as he prepares for the 2025 season. “You definitely have a process,” concluded Morris, acknowledging that growth and learning are ongoing endeavors in football.
