Rep. Andrew Clyde, a U.S. Congressman who has consistently secured reelection since 2020, posted several statements on July 31, 2025, addressing gun rights and Medicaid policy.
In one post from July 31, Clyde referenced New York State Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani’s stance on policing and firearms: “Zohran Mamdani—who supports defunding the police—is now calling for a ‘nationwide ban on assault rifles.’ Evil deeds DO NOT transcend constitutional rights. And ‘Shall NOT be infringed’ is NOT a suggestion.”
Later that day, Clyde commented on Medicaid benefits and work requirements: “Hardworking Americans shouldn’t be forced to foot the bill for able-bodied, working-age adults without children to stay home. That’s why we FOUGHT and WON to restore the dignity of work and preserve benefits for the vulnerable Americans Medicaid is intended to serve.”
Clyde also addressed firearm regulations in another statement: “Removing the NFA tax for suppressors and short-barreled firearms was just the start. We must finish the job by ELIMINATING the unconstitutional registration. To achieve this 2A win, the Senate Parliamentarian must be FIRED BEFORE the next budget reconciliation process begins.”
Andrew Clyde has maintained his seat in Congress through several election cycles, winning against Tambrei Cash in 2024 with nearly 69% of the vote, Michael Ford in 2022 with over 72%, and Devin Pandy in 2020 with almost 79%. These electoral victories reflect sustained support within his district.
