Rep. Andrew Clyde, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Georgia’s 9th district, has recently expressed his views on several key issues through social media posts. Clyde, who succeeded Doug Collins in 2021, was born in Walkerton, Ontario, Canada in 1963 and is a resident of Athens. He holds degrees from the University of Notre Dame, Bethel University, and the University of Georgia.
On July 3, 2025, Clyde criticized Rep. Hank Johnson for voting against what he described as the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” stating that its passage would provide tax relief to constituents in Georgia’s 4th district. According to Clyde, without this bill and if the Trump Tax Cuts were to expire, “the average taxpayer would see a 23% tax hike” in GA-04.
In a post dated July 4, 2025, Clyde commemorated Independence Day by reflecting on the historical significance of the Founding Fathers’ creation of the United States. He stated: “249 years ago, our Founding Fathers created the greatest nation in the history of the world.” He emphasized celebrating freedoms and honoring those who defend them on this national holiday.
Later on July 4, Clyde announced that President Trump had signed into law what he referred to as “the One Big Beautiful Bill,” which he claims delivers “the largest working and middle class tax cut in American history.” He concluded his message with patriotic sentiments: “God Bless the USA!”
Andrew Clyde has been an active member of Congress since his election and continues to engage with constituents on legislative matters and national celebrations.
