Rep. Andrew Clyde, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Georgia’s 9th district since 2021, shared his thoughts on recent legislative developments via social media on July 3, 2025. Clyde, a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Bethel University, has been an active voice in Congress since replacing Doug Collins.
In a post from July 3, Clyde emphasized the rights of Members of Congress to visit detainees, while criticizing Democrats for allegedly using taxpayer dollars for such visits. He stated: “We have a right as Members of Congress to visit people who are detained.” He further accused Democrats of prioritizing these visits over other issues.
Later that day, Clyde referenced a statement by Hakeem Jeffries regarding the potential impact of the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) on immigration enforcement. In his tweet, he quoted Jeffries saying: “A deportation machine will be unleashed on steroids” when the One Big Beautiful Bill passes. Clyde expressed approval for this outcome as aligning with what he believes voters desire.
On the same day, Clyde announced the passage of OBBB and its progression towards presidential approval. He declared: ” PASSED: The One Big Beautiful Bill! Next stop: President Trump’s desk.” He highlighted this development as part of delivering an “America First agenda.”
Andrew Clyde was born in Walkerton, Ontario, Canada in 1963 and currently resides in Athens.
