David Clark, a House Representative from Georgia, announced that a new law expanding prosthetic and orthotic insurance coverage will provide greater independence and dignity to those in need. The statement was made on the social media platform X.

“Governor Kemp officially signed Senate Bill 101 into law,” said Clark, State Representative from Georgia. “Georgians who need additional prosthetics and orthotics can now receive coverage through their insurance providers. SB 101 is more than a bill—it’s hope, dignity, and a step toward opportunity. Let’s keep fighting for a Georgia where everyone has the tools they need to thrive independently.”

In 2025, Georgia passed Senate Bill 101, which mandates that all state-regulated health insurance policies issued on or after January 1, 2026, must cover medically necessary prosthetic and orthotic devices. According to the Georgia General Assembly, the law ensures equitable access to mobility devices for individuals with limb loss or mobility impairments. This legislation represents a significant shift in expanding healthcare access across the state.

According to advocacy group So Every BODY Can Move, thousands of Georgians with limb differences or mobility challenges encounter major barriers to care due to inadequate insurance coverage and high out-of-pocket costs. These disparities have historically limited access to orthotic and prosthetic services. The passage of SB 101 is viewed as a critical step toward closing this coverage gap.

Clark has served in the Georgia House of Representatives since 2015 and holds roles on several committees. According to the Georgia House’s official website, he is Vice Chair of the Defense & Veterans Affairs Committee and serves on Health, Education, and Transportation Committees. His work reflects a broad focus on health policy, state infrastructure, and public service.
