David Clark, Republican State Representative for Georgia District 100, said a Savannah gathering with the Georgia Defense Commission highlighted efforts to maintain strong support for military bases and service members via partnerships that facilitate successful transitions to civilian life.
“Great morning in Savannah with the Georgia Defense Commission,” said Clark, State Representative from Georgia. “Honored to serve as we support Georgia’s military bases and those in uniform. Strong partnerships with business and workforce leaders ensure our military community thrives during service and after transition.”
According to Clark, he shared his experience at the Savannah event via an X post that included three photos from the occasion. He expressed appreciation for contributing to initiatives that support the state’s military installations and active personnel, as well as facilitating their integration after service.
Georgia is home to nine military installations, which contribute approximately $22 billion annually to the state’s economy, accounting for about 2.5 percent of its gross domestic product. These facilities directly employ over 150,000 individuals and indirectly support around 330,000 jobs across various sectors. The presence of nearly 630,000 veterans further integrates military contributions into local workforce and community development.
In the United States, defense spending has reached significant levels, with states like Georgia receiving $15.3 billion in fiscal year 2023 for personnel, contracts, and facilities. National surveys indicate that while 45 percent of Americans perceive public appreciation for military families’ sacrifices, only 19 percent of those families share that view. Support programs address issues such as spouse employment and child care; however, access remains a challenge for many.
Clark was born on July 15, 1986, and has served as a Republican in the Georgia House of Representatives for District 100 since 2023. He completed service as a U.S. Army Green Beret and operates a small business. Clark is seeking the position of Lieutenant Governor in Georgia.
