Senator Greg Dolezal, a Republican representing Georgia’s 27th Senate District since 2019, recently posted several statements on social media regarding legislative independence and election integrity in Georgia.
On February 16, 2026, Dolezal recounted an early experience in the state senate. He wrote: “My first year in the Georgia Senate, I voted against a fellow Republican’s bill. He walked up, put his finger in my chest and said: ‘Dolezal, don’t you ever vote against my bill again.’ I laughed. And kept voting my conscience. Because this is what happens when lawmakers”.
Later that day, Dolezal addressed voter identification laws in Georgia, referencing past debates over election reforms. On February 16, he stated: “We’ve seen this before in Georgia. Republicans passed voter ID in 2021. Democrats screamed ‘Jim Crow 2.0.’ Georgia had record election turnout in 2024. Voter ID laws prevent cheating, not voting.”
Continuing the theme of election oversight, on February 17 he posted: “Our elections are too important to leave them up to chance. It is time for the Georgia State Election Board to initiate a formal takeover of Fulton County’s election administration.”
Dolezal was elected to the Georgia State Senate in 2019 after replacing former senator Michael Williams as representative of the state’s 27th district.
