The latest movie from filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza, “Police State,” will be shown at a Cumming movie theater on Oct 23 and Oct. 25.
The film, which explores the concept of a growing police state in America, will be shown at the AMC Avenue Forsyth 12 theater located at 350 Peachtree Pkwy. Showings will be held at 6:30 and 7 p.m. on both days.
D’Souza expressed surprise at the need to make a movie about a police state, saying, “I honestly wouldn't have believed, prior to the 2020 election and prior to Biden coming to office, that I’d be making this movie. Which really shows that we have seen a speedy introduction of the police state on many different levels.”
"Police State" examines the roots of what D’Souza refers to as "police state" activity by the government. This includes the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks and the implementation of the "Patriot Act," as well as more recent events such as COVID lockdowns, social media censorship, the prosecution of concerned parents at school board meetings, and the surveillance and detention of Americans who were in Washington, D.C. on January 6, 2021.
The film features D’Souza himself, along with actor Nick Searcy, and interviews with U.S. House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R), radio host Dan Bongino, and several government whistleblowers.
The movie's trailer has already garnered significant attention, with 74 million views on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) as of publication time.
In addition to Cumming, "Police State" will also be shown in several other cities in Georgia, including Atlanta, Brunswick, Evans, and Savannah.
