Georgia Swarm secure essential players for upcoming season

DULUTH, GA (July 29, 2024) – The Georgia Swarm have announced the signing of several key players for the upcoming 2024-25 season. Mike Manley, John Ranagan, Liam Byrnes, Zach Miller, and Brendan Bomberry have agreed to one-year contracts, while Adam Wiedemann has signed a two-year agreement.

Mike Manley joined the Swarm in August 2022 during the National Lacrosse League’s free agency period and has been a strong defensive player. In the 2023-2024 season, Manley recorded 5 points, 69 loose ball pickups, 17 caused turnovers, and 12 blocks.

John Ranagan rejoined the Swarm in February 2023 after playing with the Philadelphia Wings. Acquired in exchange for a fourth-round selection in the 2023 Entry Draft, Ranagan contributed significantly on defense with 2 points, 34 loose ball pickups, 17 caused turnovers, and 23 blocked shots during the past season.

Liam Byrnes returned to the Swarm from the Philadelphia Wings in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2024 Entry Draft. Byrnes added strength to the defense with his performance of 9 points, 67 loose ball pickups, and 7 blocked shots.

Zach Miller was acquired from the San Diego Seals in September 2019 for a third-round selection in that year's NLL Entry Draft. Despite suffering a season-ending injury in March 2024, Miller scored an impressive total of 28 points (13 goals and 15 assists) this past season. He is currently recovering and aims to return later in the season.

Brendan Bomberry was selected by the Swarm in the first round of the NLL Entry Draft in 2018. A veteran offensive player, Bomberry scored a solid total of 50 points (17 goals and 33 assists) last season. He ranked fourth on his team both in terms of points and goals.

Adam Wiedemann has committed to a two-year contract with the Swarm. Also drafted by Georgia in the first round of their respective draft year (2018), Wiedemann is recognized as one of NLL's top defensemen. His statistics include recording nine points along with significant defensive contributions:107 loose ball recoveries;20 caused turnovers;and23 blocks this pastseason .Heis expectedto beakeyplayerfortheSwarminthecomingseasonandwillbeontheradarforNLLtopdefensemen .
