Moms for Liberty has endorsed Chris Grimes in his race for a seat on the Forsyth County Schools (FCS) Board of Education, representing District 4. Early voting began on October 15 and extends through November 1 for the November 5 general election.
Grimes' top three priorities for the FCS Board of Education are fiscal conservatism through responsible budgeting and use of tax dollars, academic excellence, and student safety, according to a post on his campaign Facebook.
The Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce honored Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director Grimes with the 2020 Charles Welch Award for Grimes' community service and "countless hours ensuring that Forsyth County’s medical providers were well-prepared and well-stocked to serve the needs of those battling COVID-19."
In January 2023, Grimes was recognized by the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners for his service as EMA and 911 Center Director. "Grimes contributed in many areas to the County’s overall safety during various times of crises including four Presidential declared disasters as well as many other natural and man-made incidents that required strategic planning and response," the board said.
Grimes holds a bachelor's in business administration from the University of North Georgia and a master's in public safety administration from Columbus State University. According to his LinkedIn page, prior to serving as Forsyth County EMA Director for nine and a half years, he spent six years as school safety manager for Forsyth County Schools. Currently, he is a senior manager for Lafayette Group.
Per the Forsyth County Schools Board of Education's website, the Board comprises five members. Terms are four years and staggered so that two or three members are elected every two years.
Moms for Liberty is a parental-rights-in-education advocacy group founded by Tiffany Justice and Tina Descovich, two former school board members. According to their website, "Moms for Liberty is dedicated to fighting for the survival of America by unifying, educating and empowering parents to defend their parental rights at all levels of government."
