The Georgia Swarm began their 2024 season with an overtime win against the San Diego Seals on December 7 at Gas South Arena. The game mirrored a previous overtime match between the teams in February, but this time the Swarm claimed victory.

Lyle Thompson initiated scoring with a diving goal, and Georgia's defense dominated early, led by Jordan MacIntosh and Mike Manley. The second quarter was action-packed, featuring 12 combined goals. Seth Oakes boosted the Swarm offense with an outside shot, followed by Thompson's back-to-back goals for a first-half hat trick. Despite a late goal from San Diego, Joey Cupido kept Georgia close with his fast-break effort, ending the half at 9-8 in favor of San Diego.

In the second half, after conceding two quick goals, Bryan Cole's behind-the-back goal and another power-play score from Thompson revitalized Georgia. Andrew Kew equalized at 11-11 as they headed into the final quarter.

Both teams' defenses were strong in the fourth quarter. Swarm goalie Brett Dobson made crucial saves while Ryan Benesch briefly put San Diego ahead. Oakes tied it again before regulation ended.

In overtime, Andrew Kew secured his "Clutch King" reputation by scoring the decisive goal at 12 minutes in overtime. The Swarm celebrated their narrow 13-12 victory to start their season positively.
