The Georgia Swarm are set to play their first road game of 2025 against the Calgary Roughnecks on Saturday, January 18, at the Scotiabank Saddledome. This marks Georgia's third away game this season and their first visit to Calgary since 2019. Both teams aim to secure a victory after recent losses.

Reflecting on past encounters, last season saw the Swarm edge out Calgary in an overtime match at Gas South Arena. Zach Miller scored the decisive goal, leading Georgia's offense alongside Shayne Jackson and Andrew Kew.

Currently, the Swarm seeks to regain momentum after starting strong with a 4-0 record but losing two consecutive home games. Defensive players Jeff Henrick and Adam Wiedemann remain sidelined due to injuries. Brett Dobson continues to provide solid goaltending, ranking fourth in league saves.

Offensively, Lyle Thompson leads with 34 points this season, showing improved performance compared to last year. However, secondary scorers like Seth Oakes and Andrew Kew need to step up for a win in Calgary.

The Roughnecks come into the game with a 2-2 record and are also looking to end a two-game losing streak. Jess King leads their offense with 28 points and is nearing his 500-point milestone. Curtis Dickson and Dan Dobbie continue to be central figures in Calgary's attack.

Defensively, Calgary aims to maintain pressure similar to their previous victories. Their ability to capitalize on power plays could prove crucial if Georgia struggles with discipline.

Both teams enter Week 8 eager for victory and momentum. Given their history of close games, fans can expect an intense matchup on Saturday night in Calgary.
