Rep. Andrew Clyde, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Georgia's 9th district since 2021, has been vocal on several issues through his social media posts. Born in Walkerton, Ontario, Canada in 1963 and currently residing in Athens, Clyde has an educational background from the University of Notre Dame and Bethel University.
On March 10, 2025, Rep. Clyde expressed support for a continuing resolution (CR) to further President Trump's America First agenda. He stated that "A vote for this CR is a vote to advance President Trump’s America First agenda." Emphasizing the importance of keeping the government open to allow the Trump Administration to continue its work, he added that he was in favor of identifying waste, fraud, and abuse.
The following day, March 11, 2025, Clyde announced his legislative efforts regarding Black Lives Matter Plaza in Washington D.C. He noted that "March 3rd: I introduced legislation to force Washington, D.C. to remove and rename Black Lives Matter Plaza." By March 10th, crews had started demolishing BLM Plaza as part of these efforts.
In another post on March 11th, Clyde addressed government spending by highlighting President Trump's constitutional impoundment authority. He criticized the Impoundment Control Act of 1974 as unjustly complicating this power and declared his intent alongside Sen. Mike Lee to repeal it. As he put it: "President Trump’s constitutional impoundment authority is key to slashing government spending."
