Middle and high school students in the region will have the opportunity for unique experiences, to explore their passions, and to make new friends this summer when the University of West Georgia hosts summer camps for sixth- through 12th-graders. The weeklong camps will begin June 6 and run through July 22.
Thanks to scholarships from Brenau University and grant funding, four young women will have their tuition completely covered to attend The Women’s College at Brenau University this fall.
City of Lula recently issued the following announcement.After more than three decades of service, Lula City Councilman Lamb Griffin on Monday resigned his seat.Griffin has been active on the council and at least seven city committees over the past 30 years, often leading those various groups.Griffin shared his decision Monday, citing family obligations.While Griffin will not be active in the city’s day-to-day operations now and knows he will miss that, he said he still wants to be involved in seeing the city grow and prosper.In the coming days, the city attorney will review the city charter for clarity on this issue and begin to address the calling of a special city election in November, the earliest date set aside by the state, for the council’s consideration, said City Manager Dennis Bergin.Original source can be found here.
The kickoff of Main Street Gainesville’s 2022 First Friday Concert Series will be twice the fun with back-to-back tribute bands performing June 3 on the historic square in downtown Gainesville.
A number of Hall County Government offices will be closed Monday, May 30 in observance of Memorial Day. The holiday closures include Hall County's administrative offices, courts, recycling center, landfill, community centers, libraries, animal shelter and HCG Family Health Center.
