U.S. Representative Rich McCormick (R-GA) has underscored the need to hold the Biden family accountable for alleged corruption, advocating for a comprehensive investigation following Hunter Biden's refusal to comply with a subpoena. This development follows the announcement by House Republicans of their intention to initiate contempt proceedings against Hunter Biden due to his non-attendance at a deposition.
McCormick has made it clear that there will be consequences for Hunter Biden's actions, stating, "Hunter Biden will be held in CONTEMPT."
In a post on an undisclosed platform, McCormick further expressed his concerns about Hunter Biden's lack of cooperation with Congress. He said, "Not testifying for Congress shows that Hunter is playing the victim. He’s clearly not willing to come clean about his business deals with China. This smells bad."

Fox News reports that Hunter Biden was subpoenaed by the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees but chose not to attend a deposition. Instead, he held a press conference on Capitol Hill where he insisted that President Biden had no financial involvement in his business dealings, including those with Burisma Holdings in Ukraine and his Chinese investments in the United States. During this public address, Hunter Biden said, "They belittled my recovery, and they have tried to dehumanize me, all to embarrass my father, who has devoted his entire life to public service."
Another voice joining McCormick's call for accountability is U.S. Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL). In a post on an undisclosed platform, Donalds said: "Hunter Biden, this ain't Burger King. You can't Have It Your Way when it comes to congressional subpoenas. Quit the stunts, make your way to the deposition room, and let's talk."
According to Fox News again, Chairmen James Comer (R-KY) and Jim Jordan (R-OH) from the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees have pledged to release the full transcript of the closed-door deposition if Hunter Biden agrees to participate.
As per McCormick's official website, McCormick, a Republican lawmaker and physician, has been serving Georgia's 6th congressional district, which includes several northern Atlanta suburbs, since 2023.
