Representative Rich McCormick (GA-06) is leading a bipartisan group of 104 House members in challenging President Joe Biden over his delay in sending munitions and weapons shipments to Israel.
McCormick accused the President of appeasing the Hamas wing of his party and displaying weakness on the global stage, thereby emboldening adversaries. "This afternoon, I sent a bipartisan letter to President Biden with 104 of my colleagues to demand the President give us answers as to why he is holding up critical weapon shipments to Israel in their war against an evil terrorist organization," said McCormick.
The Congressman continued, arguing that these delays are damaging not only to Israel but also to other allies around the world. He suggested that this strategy was an attempt by the administration to secure votes in the upcoming election by turning its back on a key Middle East ally.
Congresswoman Elise Stefanik echoed McCormick's sentiments, criticizing Biden for doubling down on what she termed as dangerous anti-Israel policies. She accused him of undermining Israel by withholding munitions needed to target Hamas and greenlighting Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran to escalate attacks following his failed foreign policy of appeasement.
Congressman Jared Golden stressed that Congress had made its will clear: Israel should receive the support it needs to return hostages — which include American citizens — and prevent another attack by Hamas terrorists.
Congressman Mike Bost expressed frustration over Biden's slow delivery of emergency aid approved by Congress for Israel. He criticized Biden for using American taxpayer dollars for projects in Gaza while withholding aid from Israel.
Congressman Mark Alford shared his firsthand experience from a recent visit to Israel, emphasizing the gravity of the situation at the border with Gaza. He called on President Biden and Secretary Austin to immediately remove the blockade and resume shipments to Israel.
McCormick was joined by Representatives Aderholt, Alford, Allen Amodei, Armstrong, Babin, Bacon, Baird, Balderson, Banks, Bergman, Bice, Bilirakis, Bost, Bucshon, Burgess, Carey, Carl, Carter, Chavez-DeRemer, Cline, Cloud, Clyde, Crenshaw, Curtis, De La Cruz, D'Esposito, Donalds, Duarte, Duncan and others in this bipartisan initiative.
