Congressman Andrew Clyde of Georgia introduced the Medicaid Funds Integrity Act, aiming to prevent Medicaid funds from being used for gun violence prevention programs. This move comes after the Biden-Harris Administration announced executive orders allowing states to use Medicaid for firearm safety counseling.
Clyde argues that federal Medicaid dollars should not support these programs, which he views as part of an anti-gun agenda. "Americans’ hard-earned tax dollars have no place furthering the Left’s unconstitutional gun control agenda," Clyde stated. He believes Congress must stop what he calls a misuse of federal funds infringing on Second Amendment rights.
Aidan Johnston from Gun Owners of America supports Clyde's legislation, saying, "Gun control has nothing to do with healthcare." Hunter King from the National Association for Gun Rights echoed this sentiment, criticizing the use of taxpayer dollars for gun violence prevention under Medicaid.
The bill has several original cosponsors and is supported by organizations like Gun Owners of America and the National Association for Gun Rights.
