Congressman McCormick has voted in favor of the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2025, known as H.R. 28. This legislation aims to amend Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 by prohibiting schools that receive federal funding from allowing biological men to participate in sports programs designed for women and girls.

"Allowing males in women's sports would be incredibly damaging to female athletes," said Congressman McCormick (GA-07). "This isn't just about fairness—it's about preserving the integrity of female-only spaces and ensuring that women athletes' hard work and dedication is never undermined."

The bill seeks to protect the opportunities and achievements of female athletes, ensuring a safe space for them. President Trump had previously signed an executive order aimed at protecting safety, fairness, and dignity in women's sports. In Georgia, State Senator Greg Dolezal and State Representative Josh Bonner have introduced similar bills.

"Title IX has been transformative in providing athletic opportunities so women have a fair chance to compete and become champions," stated Georgia Senator Greg Dolezal (GA-27). "Here in Georgia, we will do everything we can to protect our women and girls in sports. That is why I made it a top priority to file my Fair and Safe Athletic Opportunities Act. I am grateful to Congressman McCormick and the Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives for passing H.R. 28, the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2025."

Key aspects of H.R. 28 include clarifying that schools receiving federal funds cannot allow biological males into athletic programs designated for females. The Congressional Budget Office anticipates costs similar to those associated with previous legislation on this matter.
