The National Lacrosse League is witnessing the emergence of a promising new talent, Toron Eccleston, who is quickly making his mark as a scoring threat. At 24 years old, Eccleston has transitioned from being a standout collegiate player to an impactful rookie for the Georgia Swarm.

Eccleston's collegiate career was notable. He played as an attackman at Lenoir-Rhyne University and led his team to win a National Championship in 2023. His impressive stats included 164 goals and 214 points. Following this success, he was selected sixth overall by the Georgia Swarm in the 2023 NLL Draft. Despite being drafted, Eccleston chose to finish his master's degree at Saint Joseph’s University while completing his college lacrosse career.

On January 10, Eccleston made his professional debut against the Ottawa Black Bears during a snowstorm in Georgia. Although he did not score in that game, observers noted his skill and potential. His second game saw him return to Calgary, where he scored his first NLL goal against the Roughnecks with family and friends present.

Eccleston's performance continued to improve when he faced the Las Vegas Desert Dogs, scoring four goals and providing four assists in a single game. This achievement placed him among only three rookies in the past two decades to reach such numbers in one match.

By the time Georgia played against the Colorado Mammoth, Eccleston had shown consistency with another strong performance of four goals and three assists. This made him just the tenth rookie in league history to have consecutive games with seven or more points.

Eccleston now has 17 points over four games, ranking sixth among rookies for total scoring but leading in points per game at 4.3. If he maintains this pace throughout the season's remainder, he could become a frontrunner for Rookie of the Year.

With nine games left in the regular season, Eccleston has ample opportunity to establish himself further as one of the league's top first-year players. Standing at 6’4”, his size combined with skill makes him formidable on offense for defenders.

Toron Eccleston’s rise from Calgary to becoming one of NLL’s exciting rookies continues to draw attention from fans and analysts alike.
