WASHINGTON - Rep. Rich McCormick (GA-06) has introduced the Aviation Weather Improvement Act, which will enhance National Weather Service modeling for aviation purposes by requiring the use of better commercially available data.

“As a Marine aviator, I believe that the safety, security, and supremacy of American flight is incredibly important in both our military and commercial sectors," said Rep. McCormick. "Our pilots deserve the best information and the most accurate weather modeling for their flight plans. My Aviation Weather Improvement Act instructs the National Weather Service to purchase commercial weather data to improve their public models, while ensuring that our government provides excellent real-time turbulence data to American businesses.”

The Aviation Weather Act will be included in the Weather Reauthorization Package in the United States House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. The full text of the Act can be found here.
