This is to advise that there was contact recently between a rabid raccoon and a cat in the 5600 block of Cool Springs Road in the Gainesville area. The raccoon was shipped to the Georgia Public Health Lab - Virology Section in Decatur. Hall County Animal Control was advised Wednesday that the raccoon tested positive for rabies. This is the seventh confirmed case of rabies in Hall County in 2022.

Tony and Teresa Funari, Braselton residents are giving back to that community with a gift to Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) to support cancer services so others can receive the life-saving treatment and care as they did while fighting cancer. Tony was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2000. It was a battle he never saw himself having, but looking back, it was a battle he’s thankful for and one he couldn’t have gotten through without friends, family and his community. Teresa’s battle with breast cancer was different, but just as impactful on her life.
Patients will now experience a more streamlined and organized hospital stay thanks to a new Care Traffic Control Center at Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS). Piedmont has leased 25,000-square-feet of space in the Shoppes at Martin’s Crossing, about one mile from the Piedmont Newton Hospital campus, for medical offices.
